Spread the love

Here’s everything there is to know about Station 19 season 5 so far, including its release date, cast, and story details. Created by Stacy McKee, Station 19 is the second spin-off in the Grey’s Anatomy universe, after Private Practice.

The series follows the lives of the women and men at Seattle Fire Station 19. The series was introduced during Grey’s Anatomy season 14, specifically in episode 13.

Station 19’s season 4 finale, entitled “Forever and Ever, Amen,” ended on a cliffhanger.

Maya Bishop was fired as captain after she decided to use a fire engine to get an eight-year-old to the hospital faster and save his life when no AID cars were left to take him to the hospital. This decision didn’t go well with Maya’s higher-ups, who were displeased with her work as captain.

Station 19 received a series order from ABC during May 2017. Most of the characters were cast by October, and filming for the series predominantly took place in Los Angeles. It was not surprising when the series was renewed for Season 5 in May 2021, considering it’s the network’s second-highest-rated scripted series.

Station 19 was renewed for season 5 in May 2021. Currently, 59 episodes of Station 19 have aired, including season 4. The series, which McKee produces with Shonda Rhimes, will film from august 2021 through April 2022. Ellen Pompeo, who notably plays Meredith Grey on the series’s predecessor Grey’s Anatomy, is credited as another executive producer, alongside Betsy Beers, Paris Barclay, and Krista Vernoff. There’s no word yet on the future of the series following the fifth season.

Station 19 Season 5 Cast: Who Is Returning?

The core cast will likely return for Station 19 season 5; including Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andrea Herrea, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop, Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan, Okieriete Onaodowan as Dean Miller, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, and Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes.

Plus, both Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz and Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca have been bumped from recurring to series regulars for season 5. Grey’s Anatomy’s Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey is also slated to make several appearances since she renewed her contract with the long-running medical drama.

Station 19 Season 5 Release Date Info

Like Grey’s Anatomy season 18, Station 19 season 5 will premiere on Thursday, September 30. The series will be retaking the 8/7c timeslot, starting ABC’s Thursday night block. The rest of the crossover episode from the premiere will conclude on Grey’s Anatomy season 18, episode 1, which airs directly after.
